Longtail Re is a scaled, institutional reinsurance platform led by executives who have deep experience in life and P&C liabilities, asset management, regulatory engagement, and operations.

Mike is the CEO of Longtail Re and the Head of Insurance Solutions at Stone Ridge. Prior to joining Stone Ridge, Mike served as the President and CEO of Transatlantic Reinsurance for nearly 10 years and held various positions domestically and internationally during his 26-year tenure. Mike has served as Chairman of the RAA and BRMA. He is currently a Trustee for The William & Mary Foundation. Mike received his BA in Economics from the College of William & Mary and his MBA in Finance from New York University.

Mr. Taylor is the COO of Longtail Re and a director of the company. He previously served as Head of Operations at Stone Ridge from 2013 to 2019, responsible for building and managing the infrastructure and operations required to service a complex suite of public and private alternative investment vehicles, including Reinsurance and Marketplace Lending. Mr. Taylor holds a BA in International Business from Liverpool John Moores University.

David B. Heller is the Co-Founder of Raga Partners and Co-Chair of the fund's Investment Committee. He is a member of the Board of Advisors of Stone Ridge Holdings Group and the Board of Directors for NYDIG and HeliFlite. David spent 22 years at Goldman Sachs where he was a pre-IPO partner, served on the Management and Risk Committees, and retired as the Co-Head of the Securities Division. He received a Bachelor of Arts in American History from Harvard University.

Benjamin Lawsky is the Global Head of Public Policy and Regulatory Affairs of Stone Ridge and has been with the Firm since its founding. He has also served as Head of Regulatory Affairs at Stone Ridge Asset Management since 2015. Benjamin was previously the Superintendent of New York State's Department of Financial Services. In that role, Benjamin also spearheaded creation of the BitLicense, the first regulatory licensing scheme for digital currency businesses. Benjamin holds a JD and a BA from Columbia University.

Ted Mathas retired in 2022 as CEO and Chair of the Board of New York Life Insurance Company after 28 years. Ted is currently a Senior Advisor for Stone Ridge Holdings Group, Chairman of LifeX, Vice Chair of the Board of the American Museum of Natural History, and a member of the Board of Trustees of the University of Virginia School of Law Foundation. Ted graduated with distinction with an A.B. from Stanford University and received a J.D. from the University of Virginia.

Yan Zhao is a co-founder and President of Stone Ridge Holdings Group and Head of the Investment Committee. Yan has held a variety of leadership roles at Stone Ridge, including President of NYDIG, CEO of Flourish, and Head of Reinsurance. Prior to Stone Ridge, Yan worked at the Boston Consulting Group and Morgan Stanley. Yan received her MBA from Harvard Business School and her BA in Economics from Harvard University.
